Almost one third of Dove Mountain’s nearly nine square miles is dedicated to open space. Dove Mountain is found just 20 minutes northwest of Tucson. Dove Mountain Boulevard connects directly to I-10 at the Twin Peaks Interchange making access to downtown Tucson, Tucson International Airport and the University of Arizona quick and easy.

In addition to the Arthur Hill designed course in The Highlands at Dove Mountain, the area boasts five championship golf courses. There are two private eighteen-hole courses at The Gallery and 27 holes of Jack Nicklaus Signature golf at The Ritz- Carlton. Think of it, 81 challenging golf holes all within four miles.

The Highlands at Dove Mountain has an exceptionally large, active, organized Hiking Club which schedules between 35-40 hikes per month. The club schedules hikes through the Tortolita, Santa Catalina, Santa Rita and Tucson Mountains as well as other popular Arizona hike locations.

If you are interested in a more leisurely walk, there are well-groomed paths up and down Dove Mountain Boulevard. Along the way you will find Dove Mountain Park that includes playground, green space for games, picnic area, tennis courts and even a dog park. The Dove Mountain Center at the foot of Dove Mountain Boulevard houses a bank, drug store, medical facilities, veterinary clinic, hair salon, nail salon, restaurants, dry cleaners, gas station and more. Famous for Saguaro cacti, which are unique to this area, the southern Arizona desert is much more vibrant and alive than people might expect. The summer monsoon seasonal rains, from mid-June  to the beginning of September, bring with them exciting lightning shows and brilliantly colored sunsets. The rains from the monsoons nurture lush flowers on native cacti, plants and trees. Mild winters contribute to even more growth and color. Our climate is conducive to year-round outdoor living and activities.

Looking for a fun road trip? Bisbee, Tombstone, Lake Havasu, Sedona, the White Mountains and the Grand Canyon are a half day’s drive. Our residents also enjoy getting away to such areas as Santa Fe, Las Vegas, San Diego and the Pacific Ocean, all of which are an easy day’s drive from The Highlands at Dove Mountain.
